I never expected my ex-wife would eventually ask me to help her teach her younger fiancé a lesson.
I’m 55, and Sarah and I divorced two years ago. The separation hit me harder than I ever admitted, and I never really moved on. While I stayed single, she quickly began a relationship with a man much younger than her—about 25 years younger.
At first, I assumed it was just a brief post-divorce romance that wouldn’t last. But then they got engaged, and I convinced myself she must be happy.
That belief changed when our daughter confided in me.
She told me Sarah’s fiancé wasn’t contributing much financially and had started relying on her for money—first small things, then bigger expenses and growing debts. But what shocked me most was what came next: he had allegedly given her an ultimatum—have a child with him or the wedding was off.
Sarah, understandably hesitant at her age, felt pressured as he insisted it was proof of love.
Not long after, she reached out and asked to meet me.
When she arrived at the restaurant, I was stunned—she was pregnant.
I immediately asked what was going on, and she sat down and calmly explained that things had gone too far and she needed my help dealing with him. She believed he didn’t truly love her, but was manipulating her for control and commitment.
That night, we talked everything through and began forming a plan—one that would make sure he faced the consequences of his actions much sooner than he expected.
