A flight attendant named Leslie is working a cross-country flight after a night of partying, already exhausted and dealing with a bad hangover. While preparing the cabin and assisting passengers, she suddenly hears an odd sound coming from one of the airplane bathrooms.

At first, she doubts herself, but then she hears it again—a soft, high-pitched cry. Realizing it sounds like a child, she investigates. When she opens the lavatory, she is shocked to find a young boy hiding inside who isn’t listed on the passenger manifest.

Startled, Leslie asks him what he is doing there. The boy, who introduces himself as Ben, is frightened and crying. She helps him out and begins searching the passenger list, but his name is nowhere to be found.

As she talks to him, she learns that Ben accidentally got separated from his family at the airport and boarded the wrong flight. He is carrying a bag of medicine meant for his sick grandmother and believes he must deliver it or she will die—blaming himself for everything going wrong.

Over the course of the flight, Leslie gently comforts him and learns more about his life: he feels overlooked in his family and desperately wants to prove his worth. His situation deeply affects her, especially as she is also struggling privately with her own guilt over being away from her sick son, Joe, while she works and distracts herself through partying.

After the flight lands, Leslie is assigned to temporarily care for Ben. Though frustrated at first, her perspective shifts when she receives devastating news that her own son’s condition is worsening. Overwhelmed, she breaks down, and Ben, trying to help, offers her the medicine he was carrying.

Instead of accepting it, Leslie decides to help Ben reach his grandmother in Seattle first, paying for his travel and accompanying him, despite her own urgent need to return home.

When Ben is reunited with his family, they are overjoyed and deeply moved by Leslie’s kindness. In gratitude, they later give her a large donation they had raised for medical expenses after the grandmother passed away.

The money ends up helping Leslie pay for her son’s treatment, and eventually Joe recovers. In the end, Leslie realizes the importance of facing emotional pain instead of escaping it, while also learning how a chance encounter with a lost child changed both of their lives in unexpected ways.
