The house glowed with Christmas lights as I adjusted the star on top of the tree yet again, determined to make everything just right. That was who I was\u2014a devoted mom and wife who wanted the holidays to feel magical.<\/p>\n

My daughter Daisy twirled around in her sparkly dress, full of excitement, while my son Max ran through the living room pretending to be a pirate, sword in hand. Their laughter filled the house, but one question kept coming up: when would their dad be home?<\/p>\n
